We are interested in hearing from anybody who is thinking of selling a business, or who knows someone who is thinking of selling a business, which meets the following criteria.
- The business is established (that is, at least ten years old).
- We have no interest in “turnarounds” and “start-ups”.
- The business must have a provable record of consistently high returns to capital.
- The business must have earned an average of $300,000 to $1,000,000 of pre-tax profit in the past three years (or even less if the business could be “bolted on” to one of our existing businesses).
- We would consider any business which we think we understand, though our preference is for businesses with exclusive distribution agreements with world-class manufacturers of established brands of technical products.
- Though we understand that most small businesses are seldom offered up with managements in place, this would be ideal.
- The asking price must be known.
